The Little Prince book report

The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, is a beautiful fiction book that tells about a boy, called the Little Prince, who goes planet hopping from his planet, B612, to our very own, seeing many flaws in adults along the way. “But the eyes are blind. One must look with the heart...” the Little Prince said. He then meets an adult pilot that thinks differently from the grown-ups, and with him, a beautiful friendship begins. This is where the Little Prince’s testimony is told.
When the Little Prince arrives on Earth, from his planet hopping, he meets a lot of characters in the story that makes him curious. One of them is the pilot. The pilot is an adult who has a mind like the Little Prince because he sees what adults don’t see. The pilot finds true happiness in simple everyday things. They both share the same interests in everything that they do. The Little Prince then explains everything that has happened to him from the beginning, from his planet, B612, to our very own planet Earth. He says that he met many adult-like characters that don’t know how to see the beauty of the simplicity of things like the beings of Asteroid 325, 326, 327, 328, 329, and 330. He also says that he met characters like those of Asteroid 325 to 330 on Earth. As the Little Prince explains his journey to the pilot, they both find that they too had started their own together. In the end, the Little Prince finds that he has found a new friend in the pilot, and he wishes to never let that go, yet he had to say goodbye.
In the book, the Little Prince finds many flaws in adults. Many adults derive satisfaction from material things. They are always looking for new things to keep them satisfied and comfortable. The Little Prince teaches us that happiness is not what you want, but is what you already have. “The men where you live,” said the Little Prince, “raise five thousand roses in the same garden— and they do not find in it what they are looking for.” He says that adults are never happy with what they have because they say what they want is never there, but in reality, like what the Little Prince said, “… what they are looking for could be found in one single rose, or in a little water.” One just has to be contented with what they own and find their own happiness in simple things because even the most flavorless water can be savory if you’d just enjoy it.

Antoine de Saint-Exupery wrote a beautiful fiction that not only entertains its readers with its smoothly written words and the author’s drawn pictures, but also teaches them that people don’t have to own more than what they already do to be happy. With its realistic characters that bring the story to life, the book paints a beautiful story for all children to enjoy and adults to reflect on. The Little Prince is truly a wonderful book.

Mrs. Leander: from zero to hero
“Well, I’m gold without the /g/.”

Mrs. Leander is a well-known teacher by the students of Grace Christian College. She teaches Language, Reading, and Filipino in Elementary. She is now “gold without the /g/,” as she usually says when she makes a mistake, blaming it to her age as she can’t hear or see well, but don’t be fooled.  Even though growing white hair makes her look slow and grandmother-like, Mrs. Leander still has a character of a young woman in her late forty’s. The students in Grace Christian College may remember her for her strictness and easily-tempered self, but who is Mrs. Leander, and why is she who she is?

As a little girl, Mrs. Corazon Leander started as a farmer. Though with little hope to cling to, she had a huge desire to learn more and be more knowledgeable, but due to her lack of money, she was forced to learn little by little, but that did not stop her from reaching her goal. She decided to try to learn by herself. She usually went to a local library to read some books. She made a deal with the librarian that she’d clean the library as long as she can stay as long as she wants to, and she did. She cleaned it daily and read daily. She read many books. Some examples are the Brothers Grimm stories, like the original story of the well known “The Little Mermaid.” She also read many non-fiction books that educated her with many facts about the world. As time passed by, Mrs. Leander learned many things and moved to Quezon City, where she taught at a public school, but after years of teaching them, she decided to teach at a Chinese Christian school, called Grace Christian College, formerly Grace Christian High School. There she thought elementary students grammar and literature. While teaching both languages, English and Filipino, Mrs. Leander has transformed students, from being unruly and lazy children to disciplined adults. “There is no such thing as bobo,” Corazon Leander states, “They are just lazy.” Mrs. Corazon Leander’s journey from a farmer to a teacher truly inspires everyone to strive harder for their goals because nothing is impossible if you put your heart into it, but her journey doesn’t stop there. She is still a teacher, still a life changer, and forever will be a hero to many.

How To Make Beautiful, Amazing, High Quality Photos On Instagram

Hello! I have not been posting lately here. It is weird and really disrespectful to my readers. Today I will be teaching you how to take high quality pictures using only your mobile phone. Lets get started.

First thing. Never ever take pictures in dim places. Rarely will you ever find a beautiful shot unless you intend to take a night shot of steel wool or something like that. Still it will either comes out blurry or grainy.

This is clear to all photographers. It doesn't matter whether you use a camera. DO NOT EVER TOUCH YOUR LENS, but don't get freaked out if you do. Just wipe the fingerprint of with a lens cleaner. Don't make it a habit to clean it with the clothe of your shirt.

Next. If you use Instagram, it is always advisable to upload an HD photograph. Instagram actually resizes your pictures to make it smaller, so you have to upload a bigger file. Remember the bigger, the better.

Also if you are an Instagrammer, it is a must that as much as possible you post should have the same vibes. If I am not clear to you about this, I will explain. Okay. For example, you use a black and white filter today, then you use a high contrast picture tomorrow. Then you use a low light effect on the next. The presentation of the gallery won't look as presentable as it would have been if all your photos were edited the same way. That is why having a niche on your photos is better than having none. But having a niche is not really required, nor is editing your photos all the same way, but as much as possible have the same filter on most of your images.

One thing is for sure, I HATE VINTAGE filters that Instagram offers you. If you love it, it is okay, but I'd rather see a picture that you edited yourself. For example, this filter is not in Instagram. This is my favorite:

This is actually not black and white. It is just less saturated.
These photos are mine. Find more photos like those on my Instagram page @bridgeleeofficial

If you want to know how to do this effect, keep reading. I will explain it later.

Okay, for Instagrammers, never ever post a blurry image. Not even if your life depended on it.

Using HDR effect. Don't use hagrid effect. I just hate how people don't know the difference between hagrid and HDR. It is completely different.

Obviously COMPOSITION is needed. Use the rule of thirds. It helps on composing photograph, but in some cases, it is better off that you leave the subject in the very middle. Sometimes, the rule of thirds can be too mainstream. It helps to be a bit odd.

Apps! Important in editing. I don't usually use Photoshop or any computer software to edit my pictures. I just use my phone. It is easier to do so since I use my phone to take the picture. I use Pixlr Express. II am telling you right now. It is the BEST photo editing app I have ever used.

Also, if there is by any case a phone with a high quality camera around, better off leave your phone in your pocket and use that instead. Then just Bluetooth the image afterwards.

Last but certainly not the least, the instructions for the faded color filter.

  1. First, download Pixlr Express.
  2. Second, open the app up and upload the picture.
  3. Third, using the app, do whatever edit you need to do first. For example, the contrast and the lighting.
  4. Fourth, click brightness and adjust it so it is a bit darker.
  5. Fifth, click brightness again. and adjust it so that it is brighter. This step makes the picture's colors faded.
  6. TIP: I personally don't recommend just adjusting the contrast slide so that the picture is faded. Trust me. It looks horrible.

How To: Levitation Photography

Hey guys! I have been very busy with my photography. Today, I will be teaching you guys how to levitate in photographs.

Things you will need:
  • A photo editing software
  • A camera
  • A tripod
  • You
  • A stool or a hard block or something to lift you up that you can sit on
  • Optional: an object that will fly around

First, Set up your camera on manual mode. This is important. Also make sure that your manual mode suits your environment, so that the lighting won't look too dark or too light. Also the shutter speed. It is better to make the shutter speed to a very fast shutter speed because you wouldn't want any movements.

Second, set your camera on a steady tripod. I prefer it close to the ground facing upwards so you will really look levitating, but not too under you or else you will find it hard to erase the stool or chair that will be lifting you.

Third, once you have found a place to shoot, the camera is set up already, you are ready to take photos. Take a photo of yourself sitting on the block. If you are planning to float over a chair, place the block on the chair and sit on the block. Then take a picture.

Next take a picture of the whole scene without the block and you. If you are planning on floating over a chair, leave the chair in the scene.

This is optional, but it will make your photo more realistic. Take a picture of a flying object by holding it in the air. By the way, if you are going to hold it in the air, make sure you hold it a the back, so your hands won't be seen. TIP: If you are planning on having a floating book, just toss it in the air when the camera shoots. That way the pages flip. This give the book an illusion that it is flying, but if you are using a clock, just hold it in place because it might break.

Okay you are all set.

Fourth, open up your editing software. Make sure you are able to open a photo and import a photo into the opened photo. By the way, I am using Corel Photo-Paint 9. I am not sure if it is free, but GIMP can work too. GIMP is free. Although I am not sure if it will work the same way.

Your pictures should look similar. The lighting should look the same. If they don;t look the same, don't panic. Just adjust the brightness using a photo editor. You can also use Picasa. I use Picasa for that.

Open up the picture with only the scene. Then import the picture with you sitting on the block. Select the lasso tool or any selective tool. Then just select the block and press the delete button on the keyboard. This will delete the block that lifts you up. If it looks fake because the lighting is different, like I said, just change it using a photo editor. Then repeat the process again. If the background and the picture with you in it, does not align perfectly, it is okay as long as it is not too big. We will fix that later. Also your butt. If it looks flat, we can also fix that later. Then save the image as levi semi.jpg

Open up levi semi.jpg again.  Import the picture of the flying object A.K.A. the picture with you holding an object. Select the object. Then right click it and click on cut. Click on the whole image of you holding something. Then press delete. After that, just right click, then paste the object as a new object. TIP: If the object is not quite at the right position as you wanted it to be, just move it around. As long as it doesn't look fake anywhere in the picture is okay. Just make sure it is in the air and is somewhere near where it really was shot in the picture, so it won't look fake. Then save it as levi final.jpg

If your picture still looks fake, because your background does not align, don't worry, but we should fix your butt first. You can do this on your computer or in your phone, but both ways you will be cloning it. I use my phone because I will be posting it on Instagram. Anyway, just clone your butt by select some parts of your butt, then just clone it to fill up the empty space.

For the phone method, I use Photo Editor. By the way, you can download it on the PlayStore. It is not available in the Appstore though. You can clone it just like on the computer.

This step is a step that I am not sure how to do in the computer though, so just transfer it unto your phone and read on. Download Aviary. Again, this is available in the PlayStore. I am not sure if it is available or not available in the Appstore. Open up the app. Then upload your picture. Then select the blemish tool. Just draw on the lines that don't meet AKA the line that is created when the background is not aligned perfectly. It will blur the line, so it is not so obvious.

THIS IS OPTIONAL: If your butt still looks fake because it has no shadow, just draw on a shadow with any good rendering app.

Add filters, designs, etcetera, etcetera. Then add a watermark if you want to. Then you are done. You can upload it to Instagram if you like. TIP: If your picture is rectangle and you want to keep the rectangular form on Instagram, just use the app called PhotoSquarer. It is very helpful.

Weird thing about Photography

I have been very fund of taking pictures of regular objects and making it look like it is something special. You can say I give rusty things a chance to shine. I want to prove that even a trash been can be a very good subject, none the less trash itself, although I don't always taking pictures of weird objects, of course.

One more thing I'd like to prove is that even a a small digital camera or a phone can make a beautiful photogragh. I have always been told that DSLR's or SLR's are the best in photography, and yes, that is true, but that doesn't mean the phone is not a useful and good tool in photography too. People say that DSLR's are better than everything else. That's fine with me, but the way they say small cameras and phone aren't good enough? That is just cruel. Many people buy those huge cameras because it isless limited than those small cameras, but there are also a lot of people that buy them because they're, well, expensive. Weird right? I ask them why SLR's are very good. The only thing they could say was... it made high quality pictures, which is true I guess, but a person who really knows how to use a DSLR would have said "because It is has more options and is less limited." I bet you that most people even use the automatic mode rather than the manual mode, and that is because they do not know how to use it. I asked some of my friends if they knew how to use a DSLR. One of them said, "Yes. Zoom in. Zoom out. Duh?" Hahaha funny. They weren't joking. You may be asking right now, "Yes, the DSLR camera can be a little to much, but how can you prove that a phone can be a good camera too?" Well I guess it is the composition that matters anyway in photography.

DIY Anti-Dus Plug / Recycle project for Necklaces or Old Keychain and Charms

Good morning! Recently I cleaned my room, sorted out my things into piles that never ended, but you know what? NEVER SAY NEVER because atlas I am done. While I was sorting my things out, I discovered I have a lot of old key chains and necklaces, some broken even, so I decided to make a craft project on this, and I came up with the idea of making my own anti-dust plug out of these things. The project is simple and you will only need a few materials:
  • broken or old necklaces that has jump rings that attaches the string that goes around your neck to the pendant OR keychains
  • anti-dust plug end. If you have no idea of where to buy these, I bought mine at Japan home center (Philippines). But if you can't find one, search in Youtube on how to recycle your earphones to make one.

Let's get started!

NECKLACE
  • First, choose the necklace you are going to use.
  • Second, break or dettach the pendant of the necklace from the actual lace.
  • Third, Hook the anti-dust plug unto the pendant.

  • YOU ARE DONE!
KEYCHAIN
  • First, choose your keychain that you are going to use.
  • Second, (this can be skipped if like) dettach the chain from the pendant if it looks to long when the plug is attached.
  • Then attach the plug.
  • YOU ARE DONE!
I know the tutorial is not as creative and as long as you could have expected, but at least it is reusable. Youcan interchange the pendants as much as you like.

Charlotte's Web Book Report (has some errors)

Charlotte’s Web

Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White is a fiction story that tells about how a pig knew he has found a true friend. This testimony takes place in a barn owned by Mr. Zuckerman. When Wilbur the pig knew that he was in big risks of being dinner on the table, his friend Charlotte just had to save him. This idea was so ironic to a point that a spider, such as Charlotte, tries to save a pig. This story not only show shows how strong the friendship of two from different worlds can be, but also how one can stay strong even when he or she has every single right to break down.

Wilbur is a pig that had only one friend. The friend was Fern the human. Unfortunately Fern had to sell Wilbur to her Uncle Zuckerman. At Zuckerman’s barn, Wilbur’s testimony began.

Wilbur liked his new home. There was more food, the place was cozy, and it was all for Wilbur. Then he realized he was going to be killed and cooked for dinner in Christmastime. He did not want that to happen to him. He felt that it was too soon, but then Charlotte, his new friend, had a plan to save him, by spinning webs that read words that praised Wilbur. Her plan did not make sense at first, but I realized that she did that so people will see how amazing Wilbur can be, and hopefully not kill him. Charlotte’s plan seemed to work perfectly.

One day, there was a fair where Wilbur entered a contest. This event was where all Charlotte’s hard work will finally pay off. She spun another web that read, “HUMBLE”. Apparently Templeton the rat brought the word to Charlotte, and Charlotte loved it. People were amazed once again with the web. They were really fooled.

Then the day of the awarding ceremony came, and Wilbur won because of Charlotte’s help. Wilbur realized Charlotte was his friend all along.

Charlotte laid eggs to a lot of spiders. She placed them in a sac. The she told Wilbur. Wilbur was so excited to know about it and how it will all turn out perfectly with him, Charlotte, and other barn friends, but alas Charlotte died. Wilbur went back home and took the babies with him.

Then springtime came. Finally the babies are hatching! Wilbur made new friends. They lived happily ever after without Charlotte.

Charlotte’s Web is a book that is worth your time reading. Christians everywhere can learn lots of lessons from this, not only pertaining to friendship, but also to self belief. I truly recommend this book to readers around the globe.

I, Bridge Lee, have completely read the entire book.

Candy Wrapper Wallet

Hello! Today I made another project. This project is inspired by a video from Youtube made by SoCraftastic. The project is based on how to make a candy wrapper wallet. Although she used Starbust candy wrappers, I used Judge gum candy wrappers. I was not able to video myself doing it, so I was not able to upload a Youtube video about it, but here is a step by step tutorial of it with pictures.

wallet

MATERIALS:
  • Card (credit card)
  • bills
  • tape (the big kind)
  • candy wrappers (loads of them)
  • decorative materials
  • clear plastic (OPTIONAL)
STEPS:
  1. Eat as much candies as you can or you can share them with your friends.
  2. Get your tape and cut a strip that is four inches longer than your bill. Make three of this and stick them all together (all sticky side up)
  3. Put the wrappers on top of the stickyng tape design side up. It is ok to overlap the candy wrappers because we will place a layer of tape over the design anyway. Do this until no sticky parts is seen.
  4. You will see that your wrappers are not exactly align to your tape. Just cut the extra parts off.
  5. Then tape the design side so it is glossy too.
  6. Repeat steps 2 to 5. Then cut 1 centimeter from the top of this layer.
  7. Now you have two, but one smaller. Align them so that the bigger one is at the bottom and the smaller one on the top. (The smaller one design side up and bigger one design side down.)
  8. You will see a blank white space over the smaler one because it is not design with candy wrappers. You will have to coat that part with candy wrappers and tape.
  9. Then tape both of the pieces together.
  10. Add card slots by making one big paper made of tape and candy wrappers again. Then cut it to the right size and layer it up. Make sure to leave space at the top, so the card will have some allowance. I only have to card slots because three won't fit.
  11. Then add a transparent window by taping strips of candy wrappers on the side of a clear plastic to make as borders and tape the whole piece to the wallet.  Or you can make a transparent window using your tape. Just Stick both sticky sides together.
  12. Then beautify your work.
TIP:
  • BE CAREFUL ON TAPING THE THINGS DOWN. THE WRAPPERS CAN CRUMPLE EASILY AND THE TAPE CAN STICK TO EACH OTHER EASILY TOO. I learned it the hard way.

Science Project

Title:                How We Can Improve Educational Methods
Problem:        Laziness has been a huge mistake that has been acquired by lots of students. If you haven’t noticed, lots of people post pictures in Facebook, complaining about how they work in school and not get paid, but instead we students pay to work. Do you know what I think? I think those pictures are practically useless. They are cute, yes, but very useless. Do you really think schools will stop teaching or stop giving out assignments? No way. That is why my mission today is to make studying more fun than studying more like a job for students like us who are actually suppose to be enjoying it.
Hypothesis:   I hypothesize that if educational methods were made more fun and personal to students, then students might just feel like they are a part of these lessons and sooner or later will try to connect to the subject by studying on their own.
Procedure:    Ask ten students to volunteer for this experiment. Divide the group by two, so you will have five here, which will be called Group A, and five there, which will be called Group B. Make separate study sessions for both groups for five days. For Group A, teach in a normal manner, not to hurt teachers, but I mean the more boring type and with text books and stuff like that. For Group B, teach in a more fun and personal manner. This means more jokes, stories, but not too much. Every day, make exercises about the lesson for that day to train Group A and B’s minds. Use the normal test paper and ball pen exercise for both groups. Record the scores on the chart below. At the end of the fifth study sessions, make one final long test, composing all the lessons you have taught the students since the first day. Record the scores on the chart below. Then average the scores by group. If Group A’s averages are higher than Group B’s, then my hypothesis is proven wrong, but if Group B’s is higher, then my hypothesis is proven right.
